Welcome to SRA Racing
The
SRA is an online Sim-Racing League, which competes on a weekly
basis using NASCAR Racing 2002 Season software from Papyrus.
Current weekly race time will be at 9:30pm with practice
beginning at 8:30, unless otherwise notified. Race day may vary
due to driver’s work schedule/events. Please notify the Director
of current/future responsibilities as soon as possible so that
he can schedule accordingly.
Race
events currently start with a driver’s meeting/ chat session at
times posted on the race schedule. Drivers meetings are usually
held a half-hour before race time. All random chat is to be
conducted at the official SRA race site. There will be a
practice session at the conclusion of the drivers meeting,
followed by a Qualifying round. A brief warm-up period
will then bring us to the start of the main event. At the
conclusion of the main event, drivers may return to the chat
lounge for a post race chat session if so desired.
The SRA uses NASCAR Winston Cup Series
points system. League results are posted each week within the
SRA homepage:

SRA Drivers
What can I say, we have two
races in the books and we have two different winners. This is
my opinion but I think the 2x pit frequency forces you to have
a strategy. This is what helped TwoDawgs and Spike finish 1-2
at Daytona, the only two cars on the lead lap. We had a late
caution that really helped them because the 99 and the 3 were
coming, but they kind of ran into each other on the back
stretch. The second race at Rockingham, the 3 car chose to
stay out and held off a charge by the 8. The 3 had a 13 second
lead after the 8 pitted on lap 71. The 8 made it to within a
couple of car lengths of the 3 on the last lap but brushed the
wall on a couple of turns. So be thinking up a plan before you
race, it may get you into victory lane....

SRA Drivers
The administrators
have met and the schedule is set. The first race is on Oct
29th. It is a non-points race called the Bud Shoot Out. The
Rooster is working night & day on the site, so keep checking
to see when he has the NEW and improved SRA web page up and
running.
There is a couple of rules that have been added this year. We
will be explaining them at our awards party sometime this
month & before the season starts, right Rooster? The Rooster
will be letting us know the time and date for the party.
I hope to start a practice race sometime soon. We are working
on getting a server for this year. I hope to see everyone at
the party, maybe even Spike. I hear those old guys have been
getting a lot of practice.
10/14/2003
I have had a couple of emails about race Dates. It would be impossible to
change the schedule to fit every drivers schedule. This is why
we have to stick to the dates we set with this schedule. The
plan was to have no more than one race per week. We also
figured that Tues-Wed-Thurs Nights was the best nights of the
week to race. Mondays you have football and Fri-Sat-Sun is the
weekend. If you have to miss a race you still get points.
We are meeting at Rooster's Wings & more on either this
Friday or Saturday night at 9-9:30pm in Springboro. Make sure
you bring your entry fee from last year. I'm glad to report
that thanks to the Rooster we have a server this year to host
our races. This way no one else is using the server to race
on. We also have to buy a copy of the game to run on the
server. So if you would like to donate to help cover the cost
of getting the computer and the game you can do so at the
meeting.
I will send out an
email today or Wednesday on which night we are getting
together. Let me know if you can make it.

Watkins Glen Protest
Drivers
After
reviewing the race and the Rules, the officials have come up
with the following ruling. First let me explain what the
protest was all about.
The 99
and the 1 car where racing back to the line for the lead
under caution. The 99 went into the last turn before the
start finish line too fast and sent the 1 car hard into wall
ending the 1 cars night. In the SRA rules page under
violations, #9 states that Causing a wreck while passing
and/or racing back to the yellow flag, the driver is
disqualified and given last place points. The 1 car issued a
protest after the race was over stating that the 99 was
guilty of violation #9.
After
much debate and thought, we are disqualifying the 99 and
giving the car last place points for the race. All of the
other cars points will stay the same except for the 8 car.
The 8 car is fined 5 points for passing before the start
finish line. Violation #4 states that passing before the
start finish line is a 5 point fine. We have issued emails
and warnings to drivers in the last two seasons about the
rules on starts and restarts. We race a number of laps, not
to see who can get to the first turn the quickest. The
advice we would issue to drivers from now on is to stay in
line on starts and restarts. If a car has a mechanical
problem they will announce it Wilco to everyone, then he can
move to the proper lane so that cars may pass him without
getting black flagged and penalized.
The Sra
Rules page will be updated and effective for the next race.
It will be amended so that drivers will understand that the
violations are penalties for the rules or procedures stated
above the violations section on the rules page. The
Violation #9 rule was intended to penalize a lap car for
taking out a car on the lead lap while racing back to the
line under caution. The current way the violation is stated,
one could interpret the rule differently. This is why we are
amending the rules page. We will make sure that the rules
will clearly state their intended penalty.
We hope
that everyone can get past this latest turmoil in our
league. We need to keep in mind that this league was formed
for winter time fun. If you get mad about something that
happened during the race, bring it up for discussion after
the race. We are all adults and should be able to work out
our issues with one another in a calm manner.
If
anyone has any questions or comments about this email,
please reply to all.
Since
the 99 was involved in the protest, he was not involved in
the ruling.
Thanks

A few
words from "The Commish"...Hadafew |

Hello SRA Drivers,
Well the leaves are changing colors and
the air has a cool feel... MUST BE RACING TIME! The Rooster
has been hard at work with creating the schedule, picking race
tracks, and updating the NEW look webpage. We, as many of you
may already know, have some new rules for this upcoming
season. Just like NASCAR, we had to change some things to make
more fun for everyone, so just give them a chance.
Now, if we ever have the party, we
can all talk about the new game and the new rules, right
Rooster? Just like the race times and date, it's hard to get
everyone together at the same time so we will justa have to
wait. I know we are all looking forward to starting the season
and it should be just as good if not better then last season.
I know that some guys have been practicing the new game since
the end of last season. I will not say any names, but they are
older then 45.
I think we all have fun this year and
I'm looking forward to giving the Rooster something to crow
about. Can he win 4 in row? We will see soon enough!
Good luck to all and I will talk to
you at the party!
